The Lord's Parable Series:

I AM THE DOOR

(John 10:9)

9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

When The Christ mentioned that anyone who enters through Him will be saved in John 10:9, does He mean a literal entrance to an organization or ekklesia (aka church/assembly) on earth as preached and required by the Iglesia ni Cristo (MCMXIV) and other churches?

The Lord Yeshua did not require anyone to physically register as a member of a select organization or ekklesia (church/assembly). The mention of the word 'enter' in the verse should not be taken literally in the same manner that we don’t take literally the reference unto The Lord being the 'door' for salvation. Let us understand that The Lord Yeshua always spoke in parables and figurative speeches in such that “without a parable He did not speak to them” (Matthew 13:34). What then does He mean regarding the need to enter through Him?

Let us take note that as Christ is the door (John 10:7, 9), He is also the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6), as well as the light of the world (John 8:12). To ENTER in the door means the same as WALKING in the way and FOLLOWING Him as the light:

(John 8:12)

12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

The people who have walked in Christ being the way and have followed Him being the light are those who have truly entered through Him as the door! What will they receive for ‘WALKING, FOLLOWING AND ENTERING in Christ? They will receive salvation (John 10:9) or life (John 14:6 / 8:12). But who are the people who truly follow The Lord Yeshua-Christos?

(John 8:31-32)

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The ones who truly follow Christ are the people who abide ONLY in The Word of Christ (Luke 5:36-39 / Matthew 13:44-46, 52). He calls them His disciples (and friends in John 15:15), the same ones whom He anoint with His wisdom and understanding (1 John 2:20 / Mark 4:11-13).

The teaching of other churches misquoting the passage in John 10:9 to emphasize a literal or physical registration and membership REINSTATE EXCLUSIVENESS which is contrary to what Christ did in His earthly ministry as He broke down barriers, discontinued rites, rituals and sacraments; thereby making salvation easy to attain and available to all who believe (John 3:14-18 / 10:9).

(John 8:32)

". .. the truth shall make you free.”
