Eternal Life Series, Lesson 4

WHO TRULY HEARS THE LORD YESHUA

4th GUARANTEE:  HEARING THE LORD'S VOICE AND BELIEVING IN HIS WORD

(John 5:24)

24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

(John 10:27-28)

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

(John 6:68)

68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

Here is another guarantee of eternal life given by The Lord Yeshua-Christos. That hearing His Word (Word as singular being the collective sum of His words) leads one to everlasting life bypassing death into life. What results in hearing His Word? The truthful belief in The Christ Yeshua and unto God who sent Him, as recorded in John 3:16 / 5:24 / 17:3.

How can one who hears the Word of The Christ 'bypasses death and into life' when all men die? How does the Savior picture the cessation of breath of those who receive everlasting or eternal life?

(Luke 8:52-53)

52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.” 53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.

The Lord clarifies that the cessation of breath of those who hear His Word, and whose hearing brought faith unto God and also unto Him (John 17:3) is not anymore a case of death but of sleeping. How can this make evangelical sense? It is because their sins were already washed away by the Word spoken by The Christ:

(John 15:3)

3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

HIS WORD IS THE LIVING WATER

On what does The Christ likened His Word in order to show the importance of receiving it?

(John 4:10, 13-14)

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” … 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

In this statement of The Christ He undoubtedly refers to His Word as the living water that when received by man “will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” What is the relevance of His Word as the living water?

(John 3:3-4)

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Through the Word of The Christ, or the living water, one becomes born of The Spirit or God.

(John 1:12-13)

12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

THE SHEEP OF THE LORD ARE HIS DISCIPLES

Who truly hear the Word of The Lord? Those who hear the Word of The Christ are those whom He called His sheep, the people who truly hear His voice:

(John 10:27-28)

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

The Christ calls those who hear His voice through His Word as His sheep who follow Him. He guaranteed these people eternal life in such that they shall never perish or die anymore, and even if their breath ceases The Lord taught that their rest is not anymore a case of death.

What will become of The Lord’s sheep, the people who hear the Word of The Christ and followed Him?

(John 8:31-32)

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” 33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”

Anyone who hear and abide in The Word of The Christ become His disciples. They are the same ones who are freed by His truth or Word who only follows Him as their Savior, Lord, Teacher and King.

THE FUNDAMENTAL TEACHINGS OF THE CHRIST

What are the fundamental teachings of The Lord Yeshua that His true disciples live by?

On FAITH TO GOD and absence of doubt

(Matthew 11:22-24)

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

On BELIEVING UNTO HIM

(John 6:28-29)

28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

On His commandments to LOVE

(Matthew 22:37-40)

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and great commandment.39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

(John 15:17)

17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

On His prohibition from being JUDGMENTAL

(Luke 6:37)

37 “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

These are the fundamental teachings of The Lord Yeshua-Christos that a true disciple embraces and lives by as his personal code and life's principles in order to be worthy of Him. And what further proves the importance of The Lord's words and teachings? It is with His teachings that those who are made disciples are immersed into, or baptized with:

(Matthew 28:10-20)

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

CONCLUSION

If one desires to follow The Lord Yeshua-Christos he cannot escape the need to follow only His Word. And one who is taught with the Word of The Christ alone will become a true disciple who will possess the same non-judgmental mindset of The Lord, and also His love and spirit of peace that were the core message of His redemptive ministry.

. ..  Father Thy Will be done. ..

(John 8:32)

". .. the truth shall make you free.”
